Da rest of Iceland

So da rest of Iceland....

Sunday: Day Two:
Sleep in bum around for the morning (and my flaming luggage still hasn't arrived) and just after lunch we head to the famous blue lagoon therefore I have to hire out togs.... ew ew ew! But anyways the blue lagoon was so lovely, just so nice to swim (I haven't been for a swim in two years!) and we stayed in there for far far too long, because by the end of it all and we got back we were all shattered and went to bed pretty early (but then there wasn't anything open anyway because it was Easter Sunday!) My luggage had arrived by the time we got back anyway so I was rather happy by the end of the day- mmmmmm clean clothes!

Monday: Day Three:
Up at the crack of dawn to get picked up for our day long excursion to the Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir and Pinveillier National park. That was really cool and very NZ like with lots of mountains, lava fields and random geyers errupting. Get back and go for a few drinkies cha hoo! Just love those £5 pints.....

Tuesday: Day Four:
Had booked a Whale watching tour for the morning, therefore up at the crack of dawn again, but we head down to the harbour to find out that the morning session had been cancelled because of bad weather... so we go for a wander and go up this big massive church thingy and get some wicked views of Reykjavik and discover that most shops aren't open until 10am so there was nothing much to do except wander. There had been a bit of snow that had fallen last night, so Tim and I still being excited by snow try to make snowballs and have a bit of a slide on the ice on the concrete...

Anyway by the time Midday swings around we head back down and the afternoon session is going ahead so we check out the whale watching centre bit and board the boat, all kind of like 'yeah its not going to be cold' and 'nah im not going to feel sea sick'..... hmmmm bit wrong there because we ended up on the choppiest seas I've ever been on (good old north atlantic) and it ends up snowing, so Im the coldest I have ever ever been (even the hardy Canadian, Ian said it was cold just to prove it!!!). So we are on a boat in the north atlantic in a snow storm. Nice one! It was cool though and I managed to score a sea sick tablet and a massive pair of thermal overalls so it wasn't too bad.. my feet were just really numb afterwards. We ended up seeing two Minke whales and one white beaked (or was it nosed) dolphin so that was alright in the end....

Afterwards we headed down to watch the Champions league and spent our last night in Iceland drinking again... happy times all around.

Wednesday: Up at 7am and back on the bus to the airport... Bye bye cold Iceland... hello nice warm london cha hoo!

Other funny moments in Iceland include:
  • Hot dogs- Icelanders are obsessed with Hot dogs, but I can see why because they were damn good!
  • Pronto grande- funny term from Trip to Barcelona and was also the name of a pizza that we got one night.. bit of a personal joke there...
  • Bjork- plenty of taking the mick there.... a funny drunk tim likened Bjorks singing to a stretch rat which was very funny at the time.
  • Egg farts- which is how Ian described Geysir, which was funny because I hadn't heard anyone say that word in ages, plus he hasn't ever been to Rotorua too hehehehehe...
  • Rain- it never really rained when we wanted it to! Pissed down a fair bit, but we wanted it to rain whilst we were at the blue lagoon and it never did. But then did on the way home.. how typical!

I was also inept at opening the door of our room, but you really had to be there to appreciate how funny that was.

Bit rambly but that was Iceland in a nutshell..

Next trip: Newquay for Bank holiday in May cha hoo! So can't wait for some beach action!
