Newquay

Here are some pics from Newquay which is where I spent the bank holiday with Rich and Ian and a few others. Jolly good, except it was a wee bit cold, and didn't fulfill my grand plans for swimming in the sea (suffice to say I didn't actually set foot on the beach.....) but anyway it was nice to get out of london see a beautiful part of the UK and I went to the Eden Project which I had always wanted to do so yay for that. Fortunately enough I suffered the worst hangover ever on the day is poured down with rain (Sunday), so I was more than happy to suffer in bed for the day.

Here's me being dwarfed by the lads!
Da stupid site won't let me load up anymore so I'll have to do it laterz...

The disappointment of the FA Cup

Alright so first things first….. I WAS SOOO GRATEFUL AND PRIVELIDGED to be able to attend the FA Cup final FREE. Basically I scored a free ticket through school, as our school is in the Borough that encompasses Wembley and they need kids to do all that pre-match palava and one kid needed an escort therefore I got to go… absolutely brilliant!

And because it was the first final at the new stadium, a huge grudge match between Manchester United and Chelsea I was just so thrilled to be part of the action, which I am still today. It was very very cool indeed! Terry vs Rooney, Ferdinand vs Drogba, the lovely sexy Giggs and Lampard, and player of the year, Ronaldo.

I was just a bit naïve thinking it would at be a great day….. and I guess what I’m going to say will annoy the hard out fans who were very jealous that I was going…..

First problem: the violence
Standing waiting for a fellow colleague, Ben at Wembley Park tube station I witnessed two fights in the short space of ten minutes. So yeah I quickly came to realise that a lot of the crowd were going to be agro and football hooligans!

Second problem: the idiot behind me
Some idiotic moron looser felt compelled to swear hard out through the entire game, often spitting on the back of my neck as he had no concept of personal space either and might as well have been kissing the back of my neck. What a bit twat. OK I have been to games and appreciate how excited people get but that guy was just completely OTT

Third problem: the game itself
What a crappy game! Very disappointed in the quality of the game- and would expect way more of two fantastic teams. Chances missed, passes going astray, the game just lack any excitement, bar the last couple of minutes when United had a few chances. Even in extra time, when Mourinho substituted Robben for Cole it was evident he was just hoping to play out a draw and win on penalties (luckily for him they scored).

Fourth problem: the atmosphere
I think the game lacked a certain atmosphere, and I didn’t realise this until I attended the Heineken Cup Rugby final at Twickenham the following day. Maybe its just because it’s a new stadium with no new history attached. I dunno.

Anyway later on that night Rich was trying to explain to me how people have been brought up since birth to support their teams (not trying to condone the violence, of course) but I just came to the conclusion that I just don’t understand how passionate and serious people can take their football.

So in conclusion it was really cool, and was a fantastic occasion, but a few things to ponder………………..

Here's myself and Marcus who I escorted to the game (NB: in amongst dirty old chelsea supporters!!!!!)

The happy Chelsea players

Back into it after a wee break

Right I'm going to make another concerted effort to maintain my blog.... have just been rather busy at the moment!

So anyway all of last week I was on the Frontier Centre residential with the baby Year 7's and 8's which was really wicked! There was the mandatory poo on the floor of the boys toilets (lucky for me there were only 2 girls on the trip!!!), then again at least it was on the floor and not on the toilet roll dispenser which was the case for the same trip last year (gross I know but just think of the logistics of a perfectly formed poo on top of the toilet roll holder...????). But did really cool stuff like rock climbling (I chickened out) high ropes (I chickened out) and abseiling (which I did do- yay for conquering my fears!!!!) and canoeing and raft building. Standard stuff really.

So I was rather tired on friday after lots of late nights and early starts but at least I had a good weekend to look forward too.....
