The OTHER Carly football rant

With all the great football to watch on telly live, I have been very limited in my capacity to post huge football rants about everything..... and now there has been a whole 2DAYS without a single football game I do feel like there has been a void in my life.... fortunately I do have all the Wimbledon coverage to quench my sporting thirst.....

However, this is an alternative rant on football and to get in touch with my girlie side and have a rant about how hot some of the football players are.....

Sonia a mate from work and I have been incessantly discussing the relative merits of Andriy Shevchenko (Urkraine, has moved from AC Milan to dirty old Chelsea for this season and was European footballer of the year in 2004)

here he is (was trying to find the best photo on google.... i guess he might look a tad old there..)

vs Freddie Ljungberg (Arsenal and Sweden......)

Actually after a brief comparison I think Freddie wins, seeing as he models undies for Calvin Klein.....

Maybe you can judge for yourselves anyway... actually Sweden are out but the Urkraine are playing tomorrow....

the lump has turned into a hole....

Where my wisdom tooth has now been removed by the dentist..... pretty horrible..... involving just pulling it out after a few jabs in mouth.. just loved the sounds of the roots ripping out of the gums....

Just a lovely thought for the day.

And now I still have a headache.

the hump has turned into a lump...

where my stupid wisdom tooth that has come through and is now rubbing against the side of my mouth.. ouch ouch ouch.. more painful than braces....

apart from that my mood is much better anyways...

On another note.....
It was really a sad day for Antipodean football yesterday- not only did Australia contraversially loose to Italy, but the EDAW terriers with a large kiwi contingent also lost.... dear oh dear...

Ive got the hump....

My rather grumpy, I-can't-be-arsed mood today can either be attributed to...

a) the fact that its Monday and Im not very good at Mondays anymore
b) we have gone from lovely sunny mid to late 20's weather to rainy, dark and miserable 17 degrees coldness (NB also we have already had the longest day- and no real sign of summer YET!?)
c) my wisdom tooth that has come up is now rubbing against the side of my mouth and it hurts
d) Plus I have been doing really well in the last three weeks not to pick my fingernails or bite them or cut them back excessively, and have managed in the last 10 minutes to chew off 4 nails....

Even the thought of playing 5 a side football tonight seems too much of an effort and the prospect doesn't excite me whatsoever.... so uncarly-like

Lets hope tomorrow will be a better day.........................

Carly Numbers.....

You can tell that I sometimes have far too much time on my hands at work!!

Since today, 22/06/06 13.30pm
2 cups of tea
3 Number of times The Big A (Arshad) has said to me.... 'When you get a bit of time could you do this.......'
2 Number of times I have felt a kid touch me and their hands have been wet- ew ew ew ew ew
2 Number of emails I have recieved this morning (and one of them was spam : ( )
2 The number of times I have gone upstairs to the staff room to do something, then forgotten it

Since the 05/04/05

156 Litres of beer I have consumed
10 Number of chicken spot chicken burger meals consumed after 1am
1 Number of chicken spot chicken burger meals consumed before 7pm
4 Number of times I have had to pee in public places
52 Number of times I have come home and fallen asleep
4 Times I haven't had buy-one-get-one-free deals deducted off my supermarket bill (twice this month!!! Damn you Morrisons
15 Times I have been asked if I was Australian
1 Times I have been asked if I was South African
1 Times I have been asked if I was Canadian
4 Different jobs I have had
4 Different flats I have had
0 amount of pounds I have managed to put aside

These calcuations are estimates, but id say would be reasonably accurate! (You can so tell I sucked at statistics). This is all really self indulgent shite.... too bad.

England...hmmmmmm

Sorry, I don't want to sound like a pessimist (can't spell to save myself!!!) but I can honestly say that England will not win the World Cup, despite having some of the best players in the world..........

Hopefully Ill be eating my words in July : )

Zuton Fever

The Zutons- Hammersmith Apollo, Friday 17th June 2006 with support from two random bands.

I remember my excitement when I finally managed to track down a copy of the Zutons debut album, Who Killed the Zutons? in Real Groovy whilst I was in town for a Auckland Pest Management Committee meeting at the ARC- ha how random. After listening to the album I definately agreed with all the hype I had heard about them and vowed they would be one of THE bands I would have to see live when I get to the UK.

So one could assume I was rather excited when I hauled my weary bottom all by my lonesome self down to the Hammersmith Apollo to see them play! Yayayayayay! Thanks to Matty for getting me the ticket for my bday pressie!

Apart from being wedged between some smoking, perfume spraying teenyboppers, and a couple that wouldn't stop snogging behind me the crowd were pretty standard to most gigs Ive been to thus far in London and the support acts weren't too bad.

One thing that is very apparent is that saxophone playerAbi Harding is only there as a novelty factor (and eye-candy for the boys going by the tiny hot pants she was wearing), as she certainly can't sing (see proof on their latest album Tired of Hanging Around), furthermore bits of the songs that I thought she was playing the saxophone, she actually isn't shes a bit pointless really.

But enough about her.... its official- lead singer of the Zutons, David McCabe has taken over from the very lovely Steven Gerrard as Carly Pannell's favourite scouser! He has the coolest accent, the most amazing voice and is really cool and funny! Yay for him.

So anyway they opened with their first single off their latest album- why won't you give me your love which was really cool (and by that stage I had pushed my way to the front so that was really cool too!) second song was a single that they released that isn't actually on any of the albums and I was very happy when the thrid song was this really cool song Remember Me. Their perforance was basically a mix of their two albums and they played all their cool songs- I was singing at the top of my lungs to- You will you won't and the standout track I thought was Zuton Fever which was the first song in the encore. They finished off with their latest single Valerie which is probably the best track off the latest album but then proceeded sing just the chorus to Railroad which is a shame because its a really cool song and then unleashed a 10 minute instrumental to finish- at one point David was playing that instrument that you blow into that has piano keys on it. Very odd, and a mildly disappointing way to end the gig, but they sort of made up for it by doing a big bow at the end and skipping off stage to some wierd music that you would probably hear in a 1960's add for icecream. Very random.

Thats a rather bad review and all I can really be arsed writing as I am nursing one hell of a hangover from a party I went to in Fullham last night..... Im supposed to be going to the pub to watch the Australia vs Brazil game but just don't think I can be arsed!!! And now its too hot outside so I think Im just going to have a bit of a lie-down.

Closure

Well it appears we have some Cclloooooooooooooooooosure on the ex-tennants of 27a Little Ealing Lane vs ex-Landlord Colin Trevor....

After some research by Michelle, it appears that Colin Trevor has more than likely gone bankrupt so theres no point in taking him to the small claims court.

So thats the end of the saga... we loose out. We are going to look at getting our names on the list of creditors though...

Football fever

More football rants..... boring to some but Im sorry I just like to self-indulge!

So it seems football fever is in full swing with the St George flag hanging out so many windows around london and little St Georges flags hang off the windows of peoples cars...

Theres talk of Wayne Rooney- it all changes from one day to the next- one day its like no his broken metatarsal (word of the month) will be fine for the qualifiers, then no he should be fit for the quarter finals (although not at all match-fit) then no he isn't fit at all and that they are going to include Jermaine Defoe (who should be in for Theo Walcott anyway for heavens sake!)

Then theres the whole 'who-should-play-in-the-holding-midfielder-role' now that Ledley King can't play (those damn metatarsals again!!!!!!!!! Hes my favourite too : ( ) and the equally exciting 'should-there-really-be-a-holding-midfielder' debate... Jamie Carragher looks like first choice... and then should england play 1-4-1-4-1 formation with Gerrard playing just behind Owen... blah blah for football talk...

But my personal favourite is the whole Peter-Crouch-does-the Robot- thingy. He scored a really good goal actually against Hungry and did the Robot (really badly I might add- cringeworthy!) to celebrate. And now the whole british press keep going on about it, i think its really funny to be honest. Heres the best pic i could find anyway! Top stuff bro!
